Massachusetts Chapter of Association of Occupational Health Nurses –
Getting Connected- Initiative Joan is the Recording Secretary for Central Mass and is the Central Mass website liaison. She is the OHN with Nypro, Inc. This program was developed to help reenergize the chapter and assist in organizing the chapter board of directors. The packet included a “welcome letter from the President”, an educational calendar, website information and an organizational chart for the new board of directors. This was the first step in reaching out to the membership and the member feed back was very positive. Bonnie Corliss, Connecticut
Connecticut District Blood Pressure Clinic and Education Program
Bonnie is the Connecticut District OHN
Administrator with the US postal Service in Hartford, Connecticut.
The goal of the program is quite simple; educate the postal workers
to keep them healthy.
The program originated in 2002, she has screened over 200 employees
and has seen a 5% reduction in hypertension incidence.
The program is welcomed by the employees and supported by
management.
Janine Cotugno, Rhode IslandProposal to
Develop Pandemic Emergency Procedures Janine was the OHN at AT Cross Company. The goal of this program was to prepare an outline of procedures for the management of a pandemic emergency and with management support fully develop the procedures and incorporate them into the business continuity plan. Janine also chaired an RIAOHN focus group that shared ideas and information on preparedness. Her outline was distributed as a starting point in developing individual plans.
Mary Lacaillade, Vermont When Domestic Violence Comes to Your WorkplaceThe presentation consisted of an overview of domestic violence, recognizing and communicating with the victims and abusers, safety concerns and employer’s policy manual and review of legal issues when violence occurs in the workplace. This program is consistent with AAOHN 2005 Key Public Policy Issues. 27 OHN’s and HR personnel from Vermont and New Hampshire were in attendance. Medique Award Winners: Coming soon

Application Northeast Leadership Grant sponsored by MediquePURPOSE: ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS(50%) 1. All current
active Northeast members (with the exception of those who have
served or are currently serving as elected members of AAOHN and
NEAOHN Board of Directors) are eligible and must have served in
volunteer leadership positions for State or the National
association or as a volunteer for a community-based organization
(e.g. Red Cross, March of Dimes), or a community effort (e.g.
disaster relief, environmental preservation efforts). (30%) 2. Nominees must
submit a personal written statement of 250 words or less stating
why they should be considered for the award. (20%) 3. Nominees must submit three letters of recommendation addressing their leadership initiatives. PROCEDURE:
